I worked with Helen when I was a young teacher in the 80's at JJ Fray. She shared her wisdom and experience and was an excellent resource for science instruction. I was in awe of her expertise on songbirds and their habits, and every September she helped me gather monarch caterpillars from milkweed to teach my young students about metamorphosis. The memory of Helen that I will keep in my heart through the rest of my life is one of gentle humility and beautiful grace.

Dianne and Van,
I am sorry for your loss. Your Mom was a great lady. I remember the times she let us drive back and forth to the mail box during the summer when I stayed with you guy's. She had the sweetest smile!
Will keep you in our thoughts.

I rode the school bus to Rustburg with Ms. Tanner when I was a little girl, since I lived just up the road from her. And I remember having great visits with her and Mr. Tanner. She was one of those kind neighbors that shapes your life as a child. I can only imagine that her loss is great to her family and friends. My deepest sympathy and condolences.
