Helen Gray Lawrence Vander Horst

My deepest sympathy to the family on your loss. Helen Vander Horst was a warm, gracious lady who made me feel immediately welcome when I moved to Chattanooga from Philadelphia as a 12 year old. She hosted a lovely tea for me, so I could meet the other girls who were to become my classmates when G.P.S.began the following month. I will always remember that wonderful kindness. She was a very special person, and wish I had kept in touch with her after she left Chattanooga.

What sweet memoires I have of your beautiful elegant mother, grandmother when Ella and I were friends at Central High School. I had some delightful moments at your house on Central and would love to know how Helen, John, and Austin and families are doing.
My husband John and I are spending half of our year in Panama next door to one of our daughters. If you should ever come to Panama, please call us. It is hard to belive how many years have passed...
