Not sure what to say?

Dear Family of Helene. What a wonderful role model for all educators was Helene! She was my mentor at UVM, when I received my Master's as a Reading specialist, and her classes were always challenging and filled with fascinating guests. Besides that, she made her classes fun and intimate, no matter how many students participated. I shall miss Helene greatly. It was always comforting just knowing she was in my life. My best to her wonderful family. Margaret Erwin, Derby, Vt

Helene was my absolute favorite professor at UVM. She was inspiring and motivating and always so supportive. When I wanted to go abroad for a semester, she helped me to figure out how, even though UVM didn't have an exchange program. I was delighted to become reacquainted when I returned many years later to work in the Alumni office. She has left an indelible mark and is an incredible role model. I feel so honored to have known her and miss her already...

Helene will always be Agatha Christie to me....unless she is Beatrix Potter, or Dorothy Canfield Fisher....
I met her as Agatha at our Library Luncheon on Halloween many years ago. She came out to watch the school children parade in their costumes before she left and then sent me a lovely card of Thanks, when it was I who should have thanked her.
A lovely woman.
She is missed.
Peace to her family.

She taught me 11th Grade English at Wm. T. Sampson High School at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in 1962. Wonderful educator.

While serving on the Board of AROHE, Associations of Retirees of Higher Education, I had the privilege of meeting Helene. What a delight - so personable, cultured, and vivant. She did, indeed, age gracefully, and it was my pleasure to know her and remember her. Yes, she deserves a grand celebration of her life. Her Canadian colleague, John

Dear Dustin and family,

I only met Helene a few times but she was such a warm person that I felt so relaxed around her. She raised some wonderful children and it sounds like she had quite the life experiences.
My condolences to the whole family. Very sad to lose someone so special.

Dustin and family,
Please accept my deepest condolences. Your Mom was always very kind and welcoming to me. May she rest in peace.
