I just found out that Helene passed away. I really enjoyed working for her and Virginia at Querbes back in the 70's. She was a very special lady.

I just heard about the passing of one of the greats in Shreveport.
Helene McCarter - what a lady, what a legend! She helped keep tennis blazing in Shreveport - especially, in the 70s & 80s. She was a hoot. Fun to be around. Witty.

Helene was a very special lady here at Pieremont Health care. She made sure she kept me straight every day. Always had a smile. She will be missed by staff and other residents.

Those days at Querbes were among my favorites, and Helene McCarter could corral us into really learning, not just playing the game, and she taught us like no other could.
I'll bet you're already showing those angels on heaven's courts just how good you are!
Godspeed, Ms. McCarter!

To all the McCarter Family,
Helene was such a special lady. A mentor to me and all the young people wanting to learn the game of tennis. She taught a lot of life lessons with her endless drills in the game. I was blessed to have her as my teacher along with Franklin for many many years. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Elaine Waller Moreau

I remember first meeting Helene as a young teenager at Querbes! She was a very impressionable and memorable lady to say the least. Heaven gained a motivating teacher of the game of tennis. RIP!

Helene was a unique and an amazing person. I will forever treasure the many memories I have of our times together. She taught me so much about life and about tennis. Helene taught and inspired so many in her life and she will occupy a place of honor in the tennis community for many years to come. I will carry her forever in my heart.
