Helene and I met in rehab. I was due to be discharged in 3 days and Helene was just arriving. We shared our room for 3 days. We hit it off right away, and remained friends until her passing. I went to visit her by cab, 2-3 times a week, for more than 5 years, as she was mostly bedridden. Let me tell you: we laughed so much, we hurt sometimes! Dear Mark,

I first met your mother when we were both on the Newman faculty although I taught in the upper school. After I became head of school at St. Andrew's and after she left Newman, she frequently substituted at St. Andrew's. I have fond memories of a good friend, lovely lady, and fist class teacher. Be assured of my prayers for all of you.
