Not sure what to say?

Dear Carolyn and family,
My deepest sympathies on the loss of Helly. It doesn't matter if it is expected and one has had time to prepare, or unexpected, it is still hard to accept such a loss. I only met Helly a couple of times but he was very personable and likeable. He led a remarkable and distinguished life. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers. Gail (friend of Marsha)

Mike~
I am so sorry and saddened for the loss of your father. What a remarkable man. He lives on in each of you and what you keep in memory is yours forever. I will keep you in my prayers.
With Love,
Debbie Welch (Chris's mom)

Dear Carolyn: I just learned of the passing of Helly. He and I worked together on his heart attack alert study for a number of years. I'm so sorry for your loss. He spoke so often of you Carolyn, his lovely wife, and how much he enjoyed spending time with you. I'm so sorry he's gone. My heart goes out to you today.

Warmest regards, Shauna Bruun, Office of Research, LDS Hospital

My condolences to Dr. Orthner's family and friends alike. I had the pleasure and honour of getting to know Helly at the MSHI program at UAB in 1999. While my interactions were few, it became very quickly clear that Helly had a number of amazing qualities. He had achieved a lot already, yet was so wonderfully humble. He had long experience, yet listened attentively to all. Helly had an open mind and heart at the same time. I'm sure he will be missed, but what he has left in great...

Dr. Orthner was a definite role model of mine. I remember first meeting him at UAB on the 5th floor of the Webb building. My first impression was that I could not understand what he was saying with his thick accent, but after spending more time with him during counseling sessions I found him very easy to speak to with his consistent sincerity. He lit a small flame of motivation in me to complete my master's degree and even after he left UAB I have continued to keep this candle burning in part...

I first met Helly when he joined the Department of Clinical Engineering at the George Washington University Medical Center in the early 70's. He was brilliant, ambitious, amiable, and very proud of his family.

My heartfelt sympathy to Carolyn, Andrea, Michael, and all the extended family of this fine man.

Right from day one in this country, Dr.Orthner had constantly supported me and other graduates both morally and in terms of financial assistantships. Nathan and I had spent long hours with him, sometimes through the night while working on the NHAAP project. We still remember an incident from 7 years ago, when he instantaneously stooped to the ground and laid down flat on the floor with sheer humility as a volunteer to test the project?s first electronic EKG system. His inquisitiveness and...

Dear Carolyn, Marsha and your lovely families,

How fortunate I was to meet Helly on 2 occasions.

I was touched by his humbleness, his love for his family, his lust for life,
and most of all his kindness to all he met.
You could tell Helly never met a stranger.

I will cherish those times forever because I know I was in the presence of a great man who made me feel great and important.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
May...

Helly was a great mentor to me. I am saddened by his passing and want to express my sympathy and condolences to his family.
