Owens and Brumley Funeral Home - Wichita Falls Obituary

Henrietta Louise Broussard transitioned and was called home to heaven on Saturday, November 30, 2024.


 The family will receive friends between 6 and 7 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at the funeral home in Wichita Falls.


Henrietta was the sixth child of fourteen children born to Hettie and Jimmy Butler in Wichita Falls, Texas. Henrietta was the oldest living child and known as the matriarch of the family.


Henrietta had one birth-son, his name was Eric D. Butler, and his father was Percy Davis. She later adopted her grandson Michael Butler and another young boy named Bobby Butler (BC) that she raised along with Michael, side by side.


Henrietta attended Prairie View A&M University for four years. It was founded in 1876, and it is the second oldest public institution of higher education in the state of Texas and the third largest Historical Black College/University (HBCU) in the nation. A fact that she was very proud of. In the 70's Henrietta moved to Los Angeles, California where she worked at Universal Studios as a Clerk typist Administrative Assistant.


She was the catalyst for some of her siblings moving to California where they were welcomed with open arms into her home until they found a place of their own to move. Staying with Henrietta also meant fun filled trips to Disneyland.


Henrietta had a personal relationship with God, she was a Christian and enjoyed attending church. She blessed those who crossed her path with a kind word from the Lord. Henrietta resided at Vernon Nursing Home during her latter years of her life where she was known as a "Godly woman."


Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents Jimmy and Hettie Butler; her siblings Alfred, Jimmy Jr., Joe, Matthew, Charles, Billy, David, Maelean, Mary, Myrtle and Marie; son Eric Butler and daughter-in-law Brandy Butler.


Henrietta is survived by two sisters, Rachel Rembrandt and Gladys Prescott; two sons, Michael Butler and wife and Bobby Butler.; grandchildren, Eric D. Butler II, Michael Jr, Brenasia Butler, Damryionna Polk, Caden Ritson, Chole Welch, Cayzli Davis and a host of nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.


Henrietta was a peaceful soul. To meet her was to know her and to know her was to love her. A cherished memory forever in our hearts.
