Henriette M. Leclerc Lovett

Madame Lovett was one of the most memorable teachers I've ever had! She had endless energy and enthusiasm with which she was able to engage even those reticent and shy students. I took French from her at Contra Costa College in 1980-82. She taught me about poetry and the Impressionists, some history of France, songs of France and Canada, and so much more. She had a huge impact on my life even though I did not continue with my French studies. I will always remember her.

Madame Lovett was by far the most impactful and memorable teacher I've ever had. She made French come alive for me, and her teaching made other languages much easier to learn. She encouraged the shyest of her students to belt out La Marseillaise, La Vie en Rose, and other French songs. Henriette was a mom in a million, a rare gem,a woman of great beauty,full of grace, overflowing with warmth and kindness. It is with heavy heart that I join my American sisters and brothers in mourning the death of this great Iroko. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
