Henry Anderson Obituary

Henry James Anderson Jr.

We all lost a great man today. Henry James Anderson Jr. passed away at 86. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He was born in Rock Hill, SC and moved his family to Tallahassee in 1968. Henry was a member of the Executive Board (you members know who you are), a Master Mason in the Scottish Rite, avid bruise-masher, member of Thomasville Road Baptist Church, The Lion's Club, Toastmasters, a Shriner, University of South Carolina alumni, and a proud veteran of WWII and the Korean War. Henry was pre-deceased by his parents, Henry James Anderson Sr. and Sarah Jane Arnette Anderson; brothers, Ralph Anderson, Clyde " Buck" Anderson, Grover Cleveland "Cleve" Anderson; sister, Inez Maddox; son, Jay Alan Anderson.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Anderson; loving children, Rex (Mary Ellen) Anderson and Stacy Rouslin; cherished grandsons, Zachary and Samuel Rouslin; sisters-in-law, Mary Anderson and Carmonlene Anderson; numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends.

The story of his life was full with jokes, lessons, and an incredible love for family (as well as a good pair of action -slacks); And he knew better than anyone that all great stories must have an end.

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened"

A memorial visitation will be held from 10-11AM on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Thomasville Baptist Church with a memorial service to begin at 11 AM (3131 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee, FL, 850-386-4288). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Henry's memory to Big Bend Hospice.

Tomorrow we will lay to rest one of the most wonderful men to walk this earth. A very bright light has gone out and my heart aches for the family Henry loved so dearly.
From the insanely hilarious and at times unbelievable stories, to the lessons and lectures that seemed to last forever, and the many meals shared around your dining room table, they were a gift that will never be forgotten. You brought so much joy to all of our lives and I know that is how we will choose to remember you.
I love you Granddaddy, may you rest easy.

At 86 years of age, he was only sixteen in 1945, the year that World War 2 ended. He must have been one of the youngest to have served.

I worked with Henry during the 1970's when I lived in Tallahassee. He was a man of character and a consummate professional. I know he will be deeply missed. May the Peace of the Lord be with your family and friends during this difficult time.

This fine man stood stall when others remain seated. His service as a Veteran will never know darkness. As a USC alumnus and a fellow Veteran, I salute his memory.
