Not sure what to say?

I'm so sorry I did not know of Henry's passing at the time. I was suddenly moved to look for him online, maybe because I'm going back to Kauai for the first time since my family and the Elsons vacationed there together in the mid-60s. Thank you for this beautiful obituary (so many things I didn't know about Henry!), and for the wonderful photos posted here that show Henry's kindness, vitality, and humor.

I'm sorry to have missed Henry's memorial. As with Al Bendich's memorial, I did not hear about it until it had passed.

I remember several kids over the years telling me that Henry was like a Grandpa. He appreciated my teaching style and often said I reminded him of his 2nd grade teacher who showed "gruff" love to her students. I loved having Henry visit my classroom every week for all of those years. He was kind to the...

Henry and Evelyn were two of our "older" friends (by 5 years) when Ruth and I were Berkeley students -- both undergraduate and law school (Peter, only). Henry invited me to use his office (books and typewriter) on weekends and evenings while I was in law school. Our older daughter Ann (Sam) and Margaret played together whenever we could arrange it and we visited Evelyn and Henry whenever we were in Berkeley over the next 50+ years. What lovely people!
