Cox Collins Funeral Home - Mullins Obituary

Mr. John Henry Jackson, 72, “Henry,” as most people knew him, passed away after an unexpected illness at MUSC Health Columbia on the evening of Sunday, May 8, 2022, with his family by his side.

Henry was born on July 30, 1949, in Dillon County, South Carolina, a son of the late Marvin Lee Jackson and the late Janie Taylor Jackson. Henry was a loving father and grandfather, who believed in hard work, loved his Lord, and being outside. Henry had worked and retired from Wilson Tree Company after 22 years of service and had been employed with the town of Mullins for nearly 30 years. Henry worked mainly in the town’s beautification department, where he made sure the town’s landscape was at its best. On his downtime, Henry loved to go fishing and catch a mess of fish when he could. Other times he loved working in his own yard and his own flowerbeds.

Surviving Henry are his two daughters: Christal I. Saldierna of Mullins and Cathie M. Almazan of Mullins; his grandchildren: Stafford Jones, Kendall Jones, James Jones, Magan Jones, and Marvin Tanner Jones; his great grandchildren: Coleson Morris and Jasiah Pee; a brother: Donnie (Abigail) Jackson of Marion; two sisters: Jeanette Jackson (Kenny) Rollins of Mullins and Sarah Bellamy of Mullins; and two nieces and a nephew.

Henry was predeceased by his brothers: Marvin “Buddy” Jackson, Jr., Lee Jackson, and Jerry Lee Jackson; a brother-in-law, Dale Bellamy; and a nephew, Larry Bailey, Jr.

Visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon, May 11 from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.

A service for Mr. Jackson will follow at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with Pastor George Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in Mayers Memorial Park in Mullins.

A guestbook is available for Mr. Jackson on our website.
