He was on the school board; I was on the Foundation board.
I've always been impressed with the incredible breadth of Tom's knowledge, and with his warmth. He was an amazing guy.
Through Tom, I've gotten to know his wife Deborah, equally brilliant an warm, and my heart goes out to her in ways that I cannot fully express.

On hearing of Tom's passing, my head filled with all kinds of thoughts about him. I then feared that if I did not write down some of these thoughts, they would somehow "not count." So, here goes.
My wife Andrea and I had only known Tom since he and his wife Deborah met and were married, although I knew well of the Mudd family, having attended Claremont McKenna College, which is next door to Harvey Mudd College.
I really adored the guy. We both came from an engineering...
