Zelda, My sincere sympathy is with your family at this time. I had the privilege of beginning my teaching career at Dixie High back in 1960. I credit Dusty with being a huge influence on my career (I officially retired in 2010 after 50 years of teaching public high school, but am still teaching adult education). Coach Oats was my daddy's (John Fisher)football coach, My mother's (Spooge Wilson) favorite teacher In 1960-1961. He was also a huge fixture at Dixie when I graduated in 1984. I'm sure we all have many wonderful memories of such a wonderful man...God bless him and his family...

Coach Oates was a hero and a role model to so many young boys at Dixie. He has always been both a hero and a roll model to me. He will be missed by a great number of people.
