Henry J. Roy Sr.

I was reminded today of my neighbor, Mr. Roy (and also Mrs. Roy who predeceased him). They were wonderful next door neighbors.

My three little boys loved to look at his numerous golf trophies in the living room. I would be in the middle of a recipe and they would run over to borrow an egg, promising to bring back brownies in return. Sometimes they would bring over a piece of a casserole or stew; we figured he wouldn't be cooking anything complex like that for one person. "Mr....
