My Mother, Harriet Martin Gilbert, and Henry were first cousins. They had not seen each other for many years, but they continued to stay in close contact. As I was growing up, I remember them having long conversations on the phone. She would tell Henry about interesting happenings down south, and he would tell her about various projects in which he was involved. I remember feeling like I knew Henry because of all the things my Mother would tell me about him. After my Mother passed...

Dear Family and Friends,
It was an honor to be part of Henry's journey as his Hospice chaplain. We listened to classical music in the background as we talked of books, of causes, of human interests and other complex themes as Henry had such an active mind and was very erudite. His contributions to the State of Massachusetts were praiseworthy. My condolences.
