PORTLAND - Henry Wolyniec was born in New York, raised in Westchester, and called Maine home for nearly three decades. He lived every day as he wanted, usually in his studio, making art-even during his two years with brain cancer. His life was full of deep pleasures: family, friends, food,...

Not sure what to say?

Henry and I hung 2000 rolls of wallpaper together 42 years ago on park avenue NYC, a few years later, he worked on my film crew when I was director of a feature film - he was in Atlanta for 6 steamy weeks in July and August- always a hard worker- My thinking was, anyone who can help me hang 2000 rolls of wallpaper without complaining can help on a film. Never a bad word. He was adopted- visited his apartment in upper manhattan- he would scrounge trash in NYC for small fragments of colored...

I often think of you all and hope you are well. I miss seeing my neighbors this year.

VERY SADDENED TO HEAR. THOUGH MANY YEARS HAVE PASSED SINCE WE WORKED TOGETHER, HENRY'S STRENGTH, HUMOR AND HARD WORK ALWAYS CAME THROUGH. HIS BEAUTIFUL SMILE IS WITH ME. WARMEST SYMPATHY TO JESS.

I am so very sorry to hear about Henry's death. My heart goes out to Jessica and Otto. Henry lived life to the fullest, having the courage to feel what he felt and to say what he thought and believed. The world is a smaller place without Henry gracing it with his honest, humorous, creative, and loving presence.

A beautiful soul with so much beauty.
My thoughts and love are with you.

Henry caught my attention nearly over 25 years ago when I was working on a house next to where he and Jessica lived. I wouldn't meet him until 10 years later when he walked in to join mutual friends at dinner. What I came to learn was why he stuck in my mind all those years--he made people feel at ease and was genuinely curious about other people's lives. He will be deeply missed in so many circles that he was part of.

So deeply sorry the hear of Henry's passing. Am sending love and strength to Jessica and Otto during this difficult time. Will hold you in my heart.

I am truly sorry for your loss. Henry was a great artist-I loved his work. And, a very nice man.

Sending prayers for the progress of Henry's soul and for the comfort of all who loved him in this life.
