HERBERT N. KRAUS

March 07, 1927-April 22, 2017

Herbert N. ‘Bert’ Kraus died peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the age of 90 with his loving wife Lupita by his side.

Bert grew up in San Antonio and at the age of 17 he enlisted in the Navy where he served as a Signalman in the Pacific Theater of World War II.  He loved and served his country as he did his family.

Bert brought the Kraus family to Laredo in 1963 when he was hired by the DeLlano Family to help run their thriving Mexican Products Corporation.  Many thanks to the DeLlanos for bringing us to Laredo.  Later he formed Bert Kraus Mexican Imports, which he ran for the rest of his career with great joy and pride.

He loved the beautiful state of Michoacan where he had a lovely home on Lake Pasquaro known as ‘El Molino’ and where the Kraus Family developed a lifelong friendship with the Fraga family from Iguatcio, Michoacan.

Bert’s children, Kathy, Karen, Bert, Jr. and Kurt affectionately referred to him as Daddy.  We are all blessed to have had such a wonderful man as our father, grandfather, husband, and friend.  He taught us so much and shared so much.  We are truly his children.

Bert was married to the following wonderful women, Marjorie Matson Kraus, Maria De Lourdes ‘Malu’ Del Valle Canseco Kraus, and Lupita Sanchez Kraus.  A special thanks to his wife Lupita who loved and cared for our father in his later years.

He is preceded in death by his father Bill Kraus and his mother Lottie Lee Kraus, his sisters Louise Bowen, Marjorie Kraus, and Malu Kraus, and his oldest daughter Kathy.

He is survived by his wife Lupita, her son Paco, and the Sanchez Family, his sons Bert, Jr. (Sally) Kraus and Kurt (Susana) Kraus, his daughter Karen Mahaffey, grandsons and granddaughters, Kurt AJ Kraus, Tyler A (Martie) Kraus, Suzzette Kraus, Beau Kraus, Justin ‘Dusty’ Kraus, Amber Avis, Hannah Mahaffey, Evan Mahaffey and Jenna Mahafee.  He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Troy Kraus, Candie Kraus, and Vinny Mahaffey.  Daddy will be missed, and will always be in our hearts and minds, and we cherish the time we were given.

The family will be receiving condolences on Tuesday evening, April 25, 2017 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.

Not sure what to say?

Dearest Kraus Family, we are very sorry for your loss. But we take solace in knowing what a great complete life Bert had. We should all be as blessed. Here is a poem that I think relates to Uncle Bert:
I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.

I have so many wonderful memories of my father, Norval, and Bert. Two wonderful dear men that were kindred spirits through and through. Uncle Bert, was a wonderful, lovely person. Thank you, for allowing us to be apart of his world. With much, much love Janet Jackson Taylor and family.

Nuestro mas sincero pesame por tan grande perdida, estan en nuestras oraciones y pensamientos.

My sincerest condolences to the Kraus Family, Rest in Peace.
