Dear Anderson Family,

How saddened I was to read that our dear friend Herb Anderson has died. I guess one should say he lived a long, and most fulfilled happy life but it still seems he died too soon. I will never forget the days you lived across the street from us and neither will our kids. Our move from Virginia was a hard one but having you on 41st. Pl. made us feel very welcomed, especially because we both had large families and so many friendships were found, both for all the kids...

To the Anderson family: Barbara, Linda, Cathy, Tom, Amy, Betsy and Ken

Some of my fondest childhood memories, rooted deep in my heart and soul, are intertwined with the Anderson family, our cool neighbors on SW 41st Place.

The Andersons were a family of six children, the Healys topped them out with eight, the last being a deuce with twin brothers Larry & Joe.

As much fun as we all had together, my best memories come from Herb - our shared love of animals, dogs and horses...

Our deepest sympathies to Barbara and the whole family. Although opponents in many cases, Herb was always a consummate gentleman and we genuinely respected each other.
Our highlight together was his and Barbara's leading my wife Alice and me and 14 other Portland lawyers to Russia in 1990, when Gorbachev d Russia to the West in a very educational and exciting "People to People" tour.
And lastly, I will always remember his collection and love of single malt Scotches.

A kind man and true representative of "the Greatest Generation." He was also a fun father-in-law who took me on many spirited pursuits of genealogical history when he
came back East - sorry we never found the Watertown ancestors Herb!

He lived a happy and prosperous life and like a Bible personality , 'died old and satisfied with days'. Job 42:17.

My sincere condolences to the family for the loss of your loved one. May prayers strengthen you and memories comfort you, and may our Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father, who loves us, comfort your hearts and "make you firm". (2 Thessalonians 2:16, 17)

A fine man and a very good teacher. I spent my first years practicing law at Spears under his instruction and will be forever grateful for the experience. I wish his family the peace of knowing he is now in a better place.
