Dear Asherman Family, How sad to hear of Herby (as we at our Ritz Restaurant in Union City, Pa.) knew him. He was always so sweet. He would come in with his co-workers from Am. Lumber Co., always dressed so nice and so very polite. Always had his special seat they sat in, always waiting for him. He grew a liking to our daughter Yvonne Yost (now Farley). Dear Ascherman Family, I was very sad to hear about the passing of Herbert. I don't know if you remember me, but I have the deepest and fondest memories of "Herby" as I knew him from when he use to come into my parents restaurant (The Ritz) in Union City, PA. My job as a little girl was to sit with those who came in alone and wanted company. He use to tell me all about his kids at home and I loved him like an uncle. I first met Herb and Dottie in the 1960's. He came into our restaurant one Saturday night to "canvas" it before bringing in Dottie who was pregnant with their first child. They were new to the Erie area moving here from Cleveland. Herb and Dottie came in many Saturday nights after that. We reserved the same table for them and they had the same server [Ann] until they moved to Potomac,Md. I was also invited to their home on Gordon Lane.
