Herbert Blackinton passed away on July 4, 2014 in Seattle, Washington. The obituary was featured in The Seattle Times on July 10, 2014.
I am his great granddaughter and I was only 4 when he passed so I don't remember much. But I can remember that every time I would visit him in the hospital I would go to Safeway and buy him tomato basil soup. And ever since then I will always think of him when I have some tomato basil soup. I love and miss you papa

It was an honor to know Herb, he was a good friend and I would liked to have spent more time with him and Janis. I remember them coming to a basketball game for my daughter, now thats a good friend! I'm glad he had such a great family and grandkids to support him. We will miss him!

Herb and I met in 1959, on the Sealth football team, In 1961 my brother played in the Huskies marching band and Herb and I with my family attended the Rose Bowl. We drove down in the old 52 ford and had a hell of a time! Herb was my best man at my first wedding in 1972. I am also Mike's Godfather.
