Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth Obituary

Shirley M. Ittner

Frankenmuth, MI

Shirley Marie Ittner passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on July 28, 2017, following a lengthy illness.  She was born in Saginaw on September 24, 1937 to Earl and Tillie (Krenz), Bierlein.  Her early schooling was in a one room schoolhouse with grades one through six.  Shirley graduated from Saginaw High School in 1955 and was in the first graduating class for the new school.

Shirley’s first full time job was for Northern Industrial Supply, where she worked with her future husband.  On May 4, 1957 Shirley married Ronald Duane Ittner.  A housewife, Shirley also worked a variety of jobs including for Dr. Cady in Saginaw, as well as typing and books for a number of companies.  One of her main interests for most of her life was real estate, which she also was involved in for many years.  Shirley said she was most proud of her time as a Sunday School teacher and treasurer (among other activities), at St. Matthew’s in Bridgeport. She was currently a member of St. Lorenz.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, her children Scott Ittner (deceased), and Lynn (Mark) Klammer of Frankenmuth, grandchildren Steven (Stephanie) Ittner of Frankenmuth, Sheila (Josh), Koeppendoerfer of Tennessee, Shaun Ittner of Detroit and Matthew, Leahana, Sarah and Rachel Klammer of Frankenmuth.  Great-grandchildren are Brendan and Melodie Ittner and Maddalyn Muehlfeld of Frankenmuth, and Jack and Lily Koeppendoerfer of Tennessee.  Her parents predeceased her. Grandchildren often left her house with a bag full of goodies, and she enjoyed gifting Easter Bunny and Santa letters anonymously in addition to sending surprise gifts in the mail.

Private funeral services have taken place, with burial at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), or St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Arrangements entrusted to Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth.
