Herbert Brown

Around 1990 I was asked to create a short film illustrating the life of a frog. Of course it was late fall when frogs around these parts are not very active and of course the video needed to be completed in about 60 days. Herb came to my rescue. I had never heard of a Tailed Frog before. Herb had living specimens in all life stages in his cooler and took me on a hike up Austin Creek to show me their habitat. I had a wonderful time with Herb. Very sad to hear of Herb's passing. He was my graduate advisor at WWU back in the early 1980s. His passion for nature (especially frogs!) was always exciting and inspiring. He was also extremely supportive and respectful of me and my work, which I'll always appreciate. RIP, Herb.
