Mr. Herbert Lee “Buddy” Britt, Jr., 73, of Galivants Ferry, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at his residence on the evening of Wednesday, March 6, 2024, after a period of declining health.
Buddy, a loving father and grandfather was born on May 2, 1950, in Horry County, South Carolina, one of twelve children, to the late Herbert Lee Britt and the late Gertrude James Britt. Buddy worked in the Mobile Home Business for years until his health began to let him down and he retired. Buddy made the most of his retirement spending his days on his boat fishing the local rivers, ponds, lakes, and little honey holes he could cast his line in. Most of the time Buddy would share his mess of fish with friends and family. When it came to his family however, Buddy found the most enjoyment here--spending time with them, surrounded by the love from his family and his love for them, telling jokes, and just the fact that he knew this was how a home should be. Buddy will be missed but will live on in the hearts and memories of the ones he loved dearly.
Surviving Buddy is his loving daughter, Crystal Graham and her husband, Les, of Galivants Ferry; his two beloved grandchildren, “his boys.” Damian Graham and Preston Graham; his sisters: Garnett Miles and Betty Barnhill, both of Galivants Ferry; his special nephew, whom he considered as one of his grandsons, Dusty (Molly) Jones; his former wife, Doris C. Britt of Conway; a special sister-in-law, Cathy Watson; and his brother in Christ, Willie Fields; along with several other nieces and nephews, cousins and close friends.
Buddy was predeceased by siblings: Wheeler Britt, Sarah Britt, Helen Cook, Loretta Britt, Sammy Britt, Jimmy Britt, Carlis Britt, Evon Britt, and Elaine Mincey.
The family will receive friends Saturday night, March 9, at Cox-Collins Funeral Home in Mullins, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
A chapel service for Mr. Britt will be held Sunday, March 10, at 3:00 P.M. in the funeral chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with Rev. Dean Conner officiating. The family will lay Buddy to rest following the service, in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
A guestbook for Mr. Britt is available on our website at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.com or on our Facebook page.
