Herbert "Beto" Carr

I was raised in Mercedes. Did not know him personally, but his name in and around Mercedes was respected. My prayers to the family.

Beto was the driving force behind the boxing program we have today in the Rio Grande Valley. He volunteered decades as the Area Coordinator for the South Texas Amateur Boxing Assoc. He served proudly as Chief of Officials for the RGV Golden Gloves for many years. Beto was trained at the United States Olympic Center in Colorando Springs and educated the coaches and boxers as a Certified Clinician. My daughters and I had the pleasure of traveling across Texas with him to attend countless boxing...
