I'm so sorry for your loss.
And Susan, I know how badly it hurt you that you could not be there. And now, I fully understand the reasons you couldn't be there. Please don't ever blame yourself-there's some things in life that are just simply out of your control.

EULOGY FOR LLOYD CLEVELAND:

Dear Dad,
I am sorry I could not be there for you on your last day, but I know you were in good hands. You were in God's hands. I had the privilege of caring for your health 3 times since my mother passed, but this spring I knew in my heart it would be the last time. I am so glad the continual & increasing struggle with physical pain during the past 4 years is over. I rejoice to know your body is finally free from the misery of pain, Dad, and you have the opportunity to know the true mystery of love; God’s love.

Thank you for teaching me the importance of education in order to realize my ambition and talent through hard work and perseverance. This has been passed down to your grandsons. My sons Miles and Cole Kincaid both know you were proud of their accomplishments and they prayed for you daily.

Thank you for teaching me to appreciate some of the simple pleasures of life that you did: fishing, playing basketball, reading, cracking a joke, laughing at myself, nature & the beauty of God's world all around us.

I want to thank you & our mother for raising my brothers & me in Grace. Thank you for showing me the significance of a Christian's duty in becoming a respected and useful member of the community. Lastly, thank you for instilling in me the irrevocable bond of of family, a gift to be cherished, regardless of distance or circumstance.

Although disability prohibits my attendance today please know I am there in spirit.

Family is not always an easy club, but we are all members. I am glad we were able to communicate our concerns and eventually understand each other thoroughly with the forgiveness that only comes through the grace of God's love. Rest in peace, Father.
Your #1 daughter,
Susan

To Lloyd's Family,
I worked for the Etowah County Board of Education for many years, and was privileged to have known Lloyd well. I always enjoyed being around him, because he was so full of energy and always smiling. It brings a smile to my face, even now, thinking about him. God bless all of you.
