Not sure what to say?

It has taken me a little time to be able to sit down to type this and not be blinded by my tears. I have so many wonderful memories of my Dad. Any man can be a father but it takes a special man to be a dad. He was the kind of a guy that people just felt so comfortable with. To me he was like a big teddy bear with great bear hugs. I get my corny sense of humor, my ability to cry at anything the least bit sentimental, and the ability to love my family with all my heart and not be afraid to...

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. & Mrs. "D" and Amy when they moved to Virginia back in the early 90s. I have never felt more a part of a family, other than my own, as quickly as I did with the Deacons. They took me in and made me feel like one of their own, with Mr. Deacon even calling me his "girl in Virginia". They were the most kind and loving family that I have ever known. I loved hanging out at Amy's because, not only did I have a wonderful time with her, but also with her parents....

Growing up I was fortunate enough to spend a great deal of time at the Deacon home thanks to my dear friend, Amy. No matter how busy their household was, everyone was welcome. I recall Mr. Deacon as a giving man, who put others before him. I remember having to take turns sitting in 'the recliner' when he wasn't home as his recliner was king. When he got home, we were quick to relinquish his chair, but he never seemed to mind. He was gentle in that way and in many aspects of life. It...

Amy,
I wish I had the pleasure of knowing your dad. From everything I have heard about him, he was an amazing father and man. I love hearing all of the fun stories about him ordering pizza for you and your friends after school and watching "Days of Our Lives" with you all. What wonderful memories to hold close to your heart.
He was a blessing to all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

He is smiling down on you from heaven. I know Jesus is taking good care of...

Herb Deacon was a wonderful man, whom I had the pleasure of knowing since I was a little girl. I have many fond memories of spending time with Amy at their house in High Crest (one of the original homes at the lake, which was built by her Dad). He was incredibly talented in woodworking, painting, and even built the beautiful playhouse that we spent hours playing in. Having spent a lot of time at the Deacon house growing up, I recall with great fondness the true love between Mr. And Mrs....

Mr. Deacon was a wonderful and kind-hearted man. My thoughts and prayers go out to this beautiful family that I consider to be a second family for me as well.

I have such fond memeories of growing up and spending so much time in the Deacon household but one of my most vivid memories of Mr. Deacon was on my wedding day. I had just married my husband and was on the receiving line and I had held it together pretty well all day and then saw Mr. Deacon and that special spark in his...

Rosalie,
May the peace of Our Lord be with you and your family at this time.
We have lost a good neighbor.

I am one of the luckiest girls alive to have had such a wonderful, kind-hearted, loving father. I would be lucky to raise my son to have even half of the character and wisdom that my father possessed. He was one of the most honest endearing men that has ever lived. My only condolence is that he is now in peace with our Lord in Heaven. I will always love you Dad!....Amy
