Not sure what to say?

To the members of the Hackney Family:

I just learned about your loss of Elbert today, and want to extend my deepest sympathy. The memory of Elbert and his keen sense of humor is still in my mind.

I still rejoice in the many times and fun T.M. and I experienced while visiting with your mother, Gertrude, and the Hackney "men". We watched each of you grow into maturity, graduate from college, marry, the birth of your children, and your exceptional achievements -- all...

My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.
He will be greatly. Elbert is one of the kindness person I know and my family will miss him.
With love
Deborah Lucas-Stallworth

I had the rare privilege of getting to know Elbert on a trip to the National Judicial College. It was an opportunity to experience the kind soul behind the sharp and searching intellect. He will be missed. My heartfelt condelences to his family and OSAH family.

Elbert’s passing is such sad and unexpected news and equally sad for me is to learn of his battle with cancer. I had no idea. I wish I had known. Elbert and I worked together in the Commissioner’s Office of the State Merit System and I can truly say he was a one of a kind person whom I shall not easily forget. I will long remember his easy spirit, humor, professionalism, and his gift of friendship. I extend to his family my heartfelt sympathy. May you be comforted in knowing Elbert...

To Mrs. Hackney and the entire Hackney family, when I learned of Elberts passing I was stunned and heartbroken. It has been so long since we spoke, I did not know that he was ill. Elbert was my "big brother" he gave me my first professional job, a lot of advice and countless laughs. Although I never got the opportunity to meet you please know that you and the entire family have my deepest sympathy.

God saw him getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him and whispered "come to me." With tearful eyes we watched him, and saw him pass away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

Fay, may the peace which comes from the memories of love shared, comfort you now and in the days ahead. You are not alone . . . we are here...

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Faye,

We are so sorry for your loss. May God comfort, strengthen and keep you. We will continually keep you in our prayers. Remember, we are always nearby.

Love,

Michael and Cheryl Edwards
