Not sure what to say?

I first met Mr Heilbrun and his wife at a Lunken Airport Days event in Cincinnati Ohio in 2009. I had seen his book, "Black & White Airmen: Their True Story", co-authored w/ former P-51 pilot John Leahr, on the shelf at the local library where I worked, and wanted to meet either vet in person. My wife and I had the honor of meeting a few times with Mr. Heilbrun at Lunken Airport during the annual air and military show in September. We enjoyed sharing conversation especially his tour of Italy where my father in law served in 1943-1945. We purchased his book and had pictures made with him. Thank you Herbert for your service and in defending our freedom. We will always treasure our time getting to know you. Terry and Alice Tomlinson Cincinnati, Ohio

Dear Carol, I am thinking of you and holding you in my prayers each morning. What a wonderful and devoted “friend” you have been to Herb. He was one in a million, and I hope, in time, your memories will be of the really good times you shared.

I meet Herb when I went to his home to buy book. We had a wonderful time talking about his life. And he showed me all his memorabilia. A great person. I will miss him at Lunken Airport.

I was lucky enough to have met Herb! He was part of the greatest generation! What a kind and loving soul he was. I'm happy today because Herb is resting with Angels and the good Lord himself. Rest In Peace Sir!
