Herbert L. Hoff UPPER BLACK EDDY Herbert L. Hoff, 86, of Upper Black Eddy died Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at the Doylestown Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Arlene S. (Schaible) Hoff. Herbert was born in Flushing, NY, on April 23, 1930, to the late Franklin R. and Leona (Judd) Hoff. Herbert entered the U.S. Army after graduating from high school. He served our country faithfully in the Korean War and three tours in Vietnam as a Special Forces Green Beret. He retired after 24 years of service as a Command Sergeant Major. After retiring, he and his wife moved from Fayetteville, NC, to Upper Black Eddy. Herbert was a 32nd Degree Mason. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Herbert L. (Ana E.) Hoff Jr. of Northampton, James T. Hoff and his companion, Nadine Pursell, of Upper Black Eddy; brother, Thomas F. Hoff of Remington, VA; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his sister, Leona Estes. Services are private.
