Not sure what to say?

I met Herb while trying to get my check ride after an accident in AK. He was a great personality and pilot. He seemed to have a slight age-related tremble in his hand at that time, but he kept that Citabria straight and level like a pro. It was proof to how well he knew the plane and flying in those crazy Alaskan conditions. Anyway, he gave me a chance when others wouldn't, and I never forgot him. Sorry to read of his passing. He was a good man. I know he is ghost riding those clouds...

I am so sorry to hear of Herb's passing; he was an inspiration to me, a mentor, boss and to an extent, a father figure. He taught me alot about flying during my time in his employ. Herb has been the standard I have measure all of my employers by....sadly none have come remotely close. He always treated me fairly and respected my opinion. A great, man, friend and boss...I will miss him greatly

To Darlene, Jennie, Sam & Carol:
Herb was my cousin and I loved him like a brother. He really was like a brother to me and I told him that as he always made me feel special. When we went to Anchorage to visit them in 96 he and Darlene showed us a wonderful time. We had many visits from Herb & Darlene, always special family get-togethers. Then there was his 80th Birthday and last of course was the Family Reunion in June 2009. He made an effort to be here and it was so special to...

Herb Hubbard, Yes!!! He was an amazing talented pilot! But even more so then that, he was MY dad! And he was an amazing dad! He taught me about cars, how to keep oil changed, and check the fluids, and how to buy cars and not JUNK.....He taught me how to garden and how to clean and how to do all the things one might need to do through out their life. He hugged me every day, I always knew he loved me, EVEN if i was being punished for doing something wrong. My heart is broken, but it will mend....

Thanks for being a great flying instructor for me. I'll dearly miss this fun times we had up in the air and all the great stories we shared on the ground. I feel my life is better having known you and I wish you a fond fairwell. Keep your nose to the wind and the ball centered my friend.

Darlene, We were sorry to hear of the passing of Herb. You and Herb contributed so much to the Family History Center here in Alaska and we have missed you both since you have been gone. Herb was willing to jump right in and help patrons at the library. He was a great example. His dedication to his family, the church and, of course, flying, will be remembered by all of us at the Family History Center. Our love goes out to you. Our prayers are with you.

Darlene, so sorry to hear that Brother Hubbard passed away. He will be remembered for so much for his gentle demeanor and his jovial personality. I know you will miss him terribly but find great comfort in knowing your time apart will be but a twinkle in the Lord's eye. He touched the lives of so many people through his church callings and as a pilot instructor/ mentor. Our sympathies and sincere condolences to you and your family.

I have so many wonderful memories of learning to fly with Herb, I wouldn't know where to begin. I meet him accidently one evening at Merrill field as my boy friend was getting ready to fly back to Kenai, before we were married. Herb was by the fence at the old tower and as I was a little teary eyed, told me don't worry he will make it home ok. We chatted a little and I took his card. It wasn't long after he started instructing me and I received my license in July 1996. I did all my...

Herb Hubbard was a flying legend! Everyone knew him and loved him. I will miss him terribly. I was the last student to have flown with him before he left Alaska. Herb helped me regain my confidence in my flying and taught me so much more, I recieved my license on January 17, 2007. I was so fortunate to have known him. I worked at his flight school and I remember hanging out with him just to finish a game of Free Cell. I play that game alot and I always think of him. I remember his...
