Not sure what to say?

This is Linda Russell in So Cal. Herb was a great guy transitioned to next level too soon for me. Still missing how Herb contributed to friends, family and COMMUNITY. I loved his books and am writing my memoir now.

A year later and I still miss my good friend. So many good memories!

To Bonnie and Chuck Mattoon, Dave and I offer our sincere sympathy in the passing of Herbert Hyde. As former neighbors and longtime friends, of yours, I never realized that many years ago I worked with Barbara Hyde in Cluetts, SS&C office. Condolences to your entire family.

I attended 13 years of school with Herb, K-8 at School 14 and Troy High School. I bought and read his books from Amazon. We reconnected at our 50th HS reunion. He was a kind, generous man and a great storyteller. I hoped Herb would live to 99 like Betty White. I heard he was at an RPI hockey game at the special tournament between Christmas and New Year's. My dad always took me to that tournament.

We were so saddened to learn of Herb's passing today. He was such a kind man, and I always enjoyed hearing his stories when we had visits. I am so glad that his books are out in the world, and that he accomplished his writing dreams. His memoirs are wonderful historical documents as well as a personal history, and reading them is like hearing his voice : ) We will miss him! Wishing peace to Barbara and all of Herb's lovely family- Love, Jen

My sincere condolences to Herb's family.

We are sorry to hear about Herb passing. We are in Florida now.

So sorry - I know he will be missed. Herb's locker was next to mine at Troy High. He was always nice and helpful.

Although I did not know Herb at Troy High School, we became friends while planning our reunions. His warmth, caring and love of family, friends and life was a joy to witness. Sending prayers of peace and comfort to surround his family at this difficult time.
