Herbert B. "HB", "Paw", "Beda" James, Sr

Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.

Mr. Herbert B. " HB", "Paw", "Beda" James, Sr, joined his heavenly father in Thursday May 1, 2025 at the age of 84yrs old. He was born on July 14, 1940 in Mount Herman, La to the late Tommie James and Willie Mae Varnado. 

After being injured on the job in 1964, HB stepped out and started his own landscaping business. 

Herbert James received Christ at an early age and LOVED the Lord with all his Heart. 

Herbert B. James Sr., was our family patriarch and loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, where he was affectionately referred to as "HB", "Paw", or "Beda", he loved to cut grass, watch his westerns and listen to his blues music. 

Herbert is the loving husband of 52yrs to the late Mary James, devoted father of Herbert Jr., Arnold (Ateja), Hermelda James, Joycelyn (the late Lawrence) Hagan, and the late Herbert Alexander, and Doris James; cherished brother of Clarence L. (Fannie) James, Sr, Pauline Barbarain, and the late Herman (Vera Lee), Ernest James, Catherine Washington, Areciea Martinez, Cora Bell Dennis, Myrtle and Dora Lee Brumfield. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a longtime friend Hope Lloyd, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Proclaiming Christ Church and all neighboring churches are all invited to attend his Celebration of Life service Friday May 16, 2025 at 10:00 am at Solid Rock Christian Fellowship 1817 Rev. Richard Wilson Hwy, Kenner, La Pastor Darren Burnette Host Pastor; Pastor Darryl Wilson, Officiating Minister (Proclaiming Christ Church). Interment will follow at Providence Memorial Park 8200 Airline Dr., Metairie, La. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am in the above named church.
