Not sure what to say?

I had the honor of serving with and under Major Dave Kuhl when he was XO of the 1st Battalion (Airborne) 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82d Airborne Division at Fort Bragg during 1970-1971. I was a 2LT infantry platoon leader

Major Kuhl was a gracious leader, concerned for his men, and a straight shooter. He was a great role model for me. He was also a tenacious competitor on the golf course. He made a great impression on me. I thank the Lord for His grace in allowing me to know...

I was a Service Club girl in Phuoc Vinh, Vietnam, with the 101st Airborne while Dave was there. We girls considered him one of our best friends - fun and funny, and we called him "Big Daddy Kuhl." He was more like a big brother - always giving us advice. And I know the troops thought the world of him because they said so and because, every time he came in the Service Club, the guys would all swarm around him - probably to talk football!

I had the honor and privilege to serve under LTC. Kuhl when I was with CSC, 1/502nd Infantry, 101st Airborne (Air Assault). He was a leader of the kind the world needs so badly today. He cared for his men but also took no nonsense. He was always on the front line with us whether it was Panama, Egypt or completing the 101 mile road march at Fort Campbell. He was a Soldiers Soldier!

I have not seen him since I left in 1981 yet I feel a deep sense of loss.

First Strike...

Dave, Bob Andrews and I became close friends in Alaska and spent many weekends socializing. We went through the Great Alaskan Earthquake of 1964 and were all involved in the recovery efforts. When Bob Andrews was killed in Vietnam in 1966, Dave accompanied his body back to Chicago where I met them both with Bob's wife, Rosemary. We...

I am so sorry to hear of Dave's (COL KUHL) passing. He was my commander at Readiness Group Meade, Fort Meade, Maryland when I was assigned there from Oct. 1989 till my retirement in July 1993. Not only was he an outstanding commander but he was also a great friend to the soldiers that served in his command. My thoughts and prayers for him and his family.
