Jo, David, Laura -- my sympathy and learning of Herb's passing. I truly enjoyed him (and you) in my days in the area. At this time of NCAA basketball, I remember that he and I and a friend of his were at Midway Airport watching the game that Valparaiso won on Bryce Drew's shot 11 or 12 years ago. Great guy. May you hold close many happy memories.

When I think of Herb, I hear, "yeah, yeah, yeah . . . ." He was a man I loved deeply, a man who could make me laugh or make me cry with ease because he somehow was able to touch me. It's been 10 years since I saw Herb at Jen's wedding in Ogden Dunes, but even with time and distance, I still feel close to him.
Herb and Jo have been there for me through some pretty colorful times, and I am so very sad to hear today that he has passed.
I extend my deepest sympathy to Jo and David...
