Not sure what to say?

I had the pleasure of working with Herb for 45 years and considered him a role model. His best decision was marrying Sally late in life. He kept urging me to get married. Herb was both a star in transportation planning as well as a star of an individual. His memory lives on with his transportation contributions as well as the people he helped.

Dear Sally,
I was very saddened to have come across this notice of Herb's passing. I am no longer in CT and had not heard. My heartfelt sympathy to you and yours. Surely, it has been a difficult several months for all of you. Herb was a kind, sweet person and so very remarkable. Please know I am thinking of you and also hoping you are well.

Love,
Suzanne Jacovino

Herb was a great mentor to me. Thoroughly enjoyed our collaboration on several federal transit research projects, and his very practical guidance on multiple projects over the years. Sally and Herb were great partners, and I will miss Herb very much.

Herb's professionalism and kindness will be remembered. It was an honor and a pleasure to meet him when he came to visit our office in 2002. Pictured here are Bill Hurrell, Herb Levinson, and Peter Martin - working on a Bay Area corridor study.

I met Herb over 40 years ago and we developed a life-long professional and personal friendship. Everyone who knew and worked with Herb has stories. It was an honor and privilege to have him as a colleague, friend and mentor.

Our hearts and prayers are with Sally and family.

Herb will always be remembered as a pillar in the transportation community. He was my professor at UConn 30 years ago and I will never forget him - being the only student taking his course that semester, he made me teach it to him! Now, I teach engineering students and always start by mentioning my first time as a "professor" - thank you, Dr. Levinson, for that experience.

Myself, as many others, enjoyed and benefited from the friendship, wisdom, and kindness of Herb Levinson. He was one of these unique individuals that combine great achievements as a professional with the best traits of the human race. Peace be with him and his family and friends.

Herb Levinson is a name that will always be remembered for his contributions to the field of transportation. I first met Herb as a student at Polytechnic University. He became my mentor throughout my education and continued as a mentor long after I graduated. Over the years, I would call Herb to ruminate over ideas and listen to his always insightful thoughts.

Condolences to his family. He will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Herb's passing. It was a privilege to have a chance to work with him. He has left an incredible legacy in the field. May his memory be for a blessing.
