Herbert Charles Lyon

RIP, Herb. It was a pleasure teaching with you at BHC.

Dr. Lyon represents, to me, all the possibilities that higher education has to offer. I would be hard put to come up with another person who explored the world through education and helping others the way Dr. Lyon did. Just a week ago, I referenced Dr. Lyon to our Board as a leader who advised us to not constantly look back for answers but envision the future. My condolences to Carol and the rest of the family on Herb's passing.

I was sorry to see that Dr. Lyon passed last week. He hired me as his secretary at Black Hawk College and I enjoyed working with him. I remember when the teachers were getting ready to strike; he was prepared to teach the math classes and very disappointed when the strike didn´t occur. He was very proud of his children. I remember him telling about his daughter´s trip home from college; she placed a dummy dressed as a man in the front seat of her car to make it appear as though she wasn´t...
