I remember meeting Herb in a snow storm. Traveling through Ohio in white-out conditions, I found myself in Akron, where Linda put me in touch with her dad. He was like an angel sent to me through the blizzard. He led me back to his home where he and Lois extended such kind hospitality and encouragement. The next morning (after the snow storm had passed) he led me to the interchange so I could drive home. Herb had a ready smile and a good heart. He will be deeply missed.

Herb was such a kind person. He will be missed by all of the Christiansens. I have such fond memories of our families spending time together over the course of many summers...at Moosecall, in Thousand Island, NY, and on Bass Island.
I remember making pancakes for him and listening to his and my dad's fishing stories. He had such a great sense of humor. He was a wonderful friend to my father and a great role model for me.
