Not sure what to say?

As I had explained last year, Herb was my first mentor after having been diagnosed with type one diabetes in 1983...Herb could not have been more of a support and years later he accepted a invitation to join the Advisory Board for Diabetes at Penn Medicine where I also served ! What a wonderful human being who did so very much for others through his life ! He has also inspired me to mentor other recently diagnosed diabetics remembering how helpful he had been for me !

Herb and Leah were dear friends through our connection with The Highlands! Patty Dushane Colhoun

I am so sorry for your loss. I fondly remember having dinner at your home back in the 70’s. The wonderful conversation and my first exposure to classical music will always stay with me. Herb was always respectful and encouraging to me. I will forever miss Herb and Rose.
Love to all, Karen Herling-Simeone

I am so sorry to hear about Herbie's passing. He was a kind, brilliant, and respectable man. He had such an admirable inclination and knowledge of nature that he could have been a botanist. He knew humanity so well enough that he could have been a diplomat, and in many ways was also that. I loved hearing his stories about his family, affiliations, and "his" incredible trees at his home in Ft. Washington.

They don't make men like Herb Riband anymore.

My family and I send...

To Leah, Herb and Anthony and Families....So much to say about HSRjr. Worked at SER&S for many years as his legal secretary. He shared stories about his life, family and world travels and made me laugh over and over. It is with sadness and much respect I remember this gentleman.

He was always cheerful and had interesting stories to tell. Eddie could always count on him to be on the side of Notre Dame, specially vs Michigan.

I will always appreciate more than anyone would know, Herb’s guidance and support upon my being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes over 35 years ago ! He was such a wonderful mentor and example to me how to live well with the condition, without it limiting one’s life options ! I also much appreciate his joining the support group at PENN Medicine Diabetes board as an advisor, where he shared his experience and talents. One of the nicest men you will ever encounter...we will miss you Herb !

Dears Anthony and Lisa,
Please accept my condolences. I am honored to have known Herb and enjoyed working with him.
Thank you for being exemplary children and care takers. These are hard roles to assimilate.
I will be in touch more personally and privately.
Godspeed and Peace, Lynn Horswill
