Not sure what to say?

Herb was such an awesome guy and a true mentor. I was so blessed to have spent time with him on & off the softball field @ OVHS. I will never forget how he encouraged me to graduate. He was the ONLY one that stood by my side and believed I could do it. His support and guidance were truly my inspiration. Thank you for making a difference in my life Herb. R.I.P.

I just want to tell everyone how much my sister and I appreciate all the support and kind words we got about our father. he was a wonderful dad and person. He was also the greatest grandpa ever. the girls at OV and HB meant so much to him. I know he hated to have to give that up. We are very touched that you started a scholarship fund in his name. Thank you all for being such an important part of my dad's life. May he RIP. love you daddy.

My sister and I were overwhelmed with the many kind words and wonderful memories you have of our dad. He always regretted not finding the perfect "job" until after retiring. I know he loved his life in Huntington Beach, working with the kids at both schools kept him young. He was so happy to see "his kids" when he went out. When I came home to visit him, you were everywhere, working at Marie Callendars, at the movie theater, many places and he was always so happy to see you after you...

Herb,

I know that I speak for a lot of people when I say that you helped make my years at Ocean View brighter. For so many of us you where the friendly hello and the person we go talk to when we needed support.

You gave so much to so many of us, just know how much we appreciated you. You will be truly missed. Go Seahawks!

Upon hearing of Herb’s passing I reflected on all the years that encompassed our relationship. From my perspective Herb Rosenthal was a unique individual that truly cared about others more that he cared for himself. His love for people, sports and Ocean View High School was unmatched by anyone and really genuine. Herb was Mr. OV when my daughters, Janee and Jena, attended the school and our relationship continued to grow on both a personal and softball level when I coached in the 90’s. ...

Herb- I will miss the conversations we had when we worked together at Ocean View. While I supervised you, I never had to worry about you not doing your job. You were always able to help and guide the young minds in HB.

Your skills as a coach are of the same caliber as Coach Wooden. You were able to lead the lady Seahawks and produce high caliber basketball and softball players.

OCEAN VIEW HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1992,

HERB WAS A DIFFERENT KIND OF MAN. HE WAS NOT ONE THAT MADE YOU HATE HIM, HE MADE YOU LOVE HIM. HERB WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY MEMORIES. THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES TO KNOW YOU AS I WAS IN SCHOOL. OH YA, THANK YOU FOR THE RIDE TO CLASS ONE MORNING, YOU MADE SURE I WAS NOT LATE AFTER WALKING 3 MILES TO SCHOOL, MY BIKE WAS FIXED THAT DAY AFTER SCHOOL. WE ALL WILL LOVE AND MISS YOU. THE SKY WILL BE MORE SAFE WITH YOU THERE. TAKE CARE MY FRIEND.

Herb,
You are an inspiration to us all and will be dearly missed. I will never forget the kindness and gentleness you displayed in making sure us athletes made it to class, did our work, and just plain had fun!

I bet you and SuperFan are looking down on us all cheering on the Seahawks!

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4

I remember when i first started going to Ocean View i didn't know where anything was at and i even got lost. Herb was my first run in with the Security there and he helped me find my classes and also made sure i know where and how to open the lockers there. He will be miss by all. He touched all who knew him. Herb helped me through losing someone close to me while i was at school. He helped me to know that they were being cared for by someone who loved them and wanted them home early. Thank...
