Not sure what to say?

The span of our life is 70 years. Or 80 because of special mightiness. (Psalms 90:10) Herb was blessed with 99 years of special mightiness. Please accept my condolences and may God who binds up the brokenhearted and comforts all who mourn sustain your family during this challenging time. (Isaiah 61:1, 2)

May the God of Comfort, continue to comfort the family during these difficult times. May he continue to give support and loving kindness, to all. 1 Cor. 1:3,4.

What a party we had for Uncle Herb!! It was scheduled to be a party for his 100th birthday. Instead it was a celebration of the end of his life here and the beginning of his life in heaven. Reflecting on the day's events as we drove back to Chicago the next day, I came to the conclusion that more funerals should be turned into such a party! The love and joy were palpable.

Listening to Uncle Herb's four sons give testimonials about their father gave me great joy. Each of them is...

Dear family,
Our deepest sympathy goes out to you at this sad time. Uncle Herb will be missed. May you celebrate his life with an abundance of joy and peace. Your dad was an amazing and gifted man which he passed on to his family. May you all continue to be a blessing to those around you as you carry on his legacy and love of the Lord.
You are in our thoughts and prayers.

So sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed talking to Herb.

I want to extend my sympathy to all of Herbs immediate and extended family. I had the pleasure of working with Herb when he served on the Advisory Committee for the Division on Aging. He was always willing to help us promote a program, and his energy encouraged all of us. I was also the occasional recipient of a piece of pie or other seasonal dessert. I believe we may have shared a sweet tooth. He made a difference and will be missed.

To everyone in Herb's family, my condolences to you at this time- he was a remarkable man and a blessing to so many. However, his lifelong faith in Jesus has brought him home in time for Christmas. We rejoice with you in his gain.
