In the summer of 1957 I worked in the main store on Montgomery St. in the office upstairs. Mama Siperstein came every day wearing a starched housedress, spoke Polish to the cleaning woman and cooked lunch for all her sons and the old time staff. Alan, your parents hired me to help you with your homework when you were in fifth grade. And after a tutoring session, I would then have a cup of tea with them. You lived on Stevens Ave. and I lived on Stegman Pkwy. with...

Herbie was one of the kindess and gentle man We have ever met. It was a pleasure for my husband and myslef to have the fortune to work with him at the Jersey City store. When our son was in the Boy Scouts if the troop ever needed tarps or other supplies he would not even blink an eye he would say what do they need and they had it..
