Herbert was born on July 19, 1926 and passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. Herbert was a resident of Graham, North Carolina at the time of passing. Visitation will be Sunday, December 9th, at 1:30 pm in the Ministries Center of FBC-G with a memorial service will to follow in the sanctuary at 3:00 pm and other times at the home. Visitation at the First Baptist Church of Graham from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM on December 9, 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd, Burlington, NC 27215 or to First Baptist Church of Graham, PO Box 779 Graham, NC 27253.
I am sad to learn of Mr. Smith's passing. He was a wonderful seventh grade teacher and one of my favorites at Silk Hope. I am so glad a friend and I had the opportunity to visit him a few years ago.

I am saddened by Mr Smith' s recent passing. He was instrumental in my development as a teacher in my first year of teaching. One of his students (Dr. Phillip Vincent) wrote this acknowledgment in his book, Developing Character in Students, l am indebted to my public school teachers, cheiifly Mr James Sykes, mr Herb Smith, and Mr Hobart Cook all of whom represented what is best about the teaching profession. Herb will always be remembered as a wonderful human being.

I loved Herb and Peggy Smith as long as I can remember. Herb was such a good and gentle man and he gave great hugs. He always had a smile. He loved his family and his church and just by living his life you knew he was a Christian. I will truly miss this wonderful man who has now gone home to Heaven. Love to the family and may God be with you.

Dina,Steve,Lynn,Rodney,Eric, I'm sorry to hear about Uncle Herb's passing. I can just see him now up in Heaven with all the rest of the family that have gone on before us. Uncle Herb was such a sweet, funny and saintly man. He had such a great sense of humor about him. I know you guys are gonna miss him, He will be greatly missed by all!! My thoughts and prayers go out to each of you I love you all so much and I'm here for you.
