I was saddened to learn of Herman's passing, "Old Glory" as Michael Banks so affectionately called him. My sincere condolences to you and your family. I knew Herman from TASC, DPTMSEC, Ft Eustis and as a friend and fellow retiree. I found Herman to be honest, direct and generous in all his dealings. It seemed like he could build, fabricate or fix anything and he expected you to be able to do the same as well. Herman gave me the only lessons that I ever received in the art and craft of...

Mr.Butcher was a wonderful and such a warm hearted spirit. I had the pleasure of getting to know of him and his wonderful family that he always talked about. It was always a joy to see his smiling face no matter what was fighting him. He was and always will be in my thoughts. My sympothy goes out to his family and loved ones. RIP my dear friend!!!

Dear Diane and family members, we are praying for each one of you that God's comforting arm will surround you giving you the Peace that only comes through Him. Herman fought a good fight through all of this. "Absent from the body and present with the Lord." We will miss him too. We are here for you so let us know how we can help you. Love and prayers, Sonny and Bernice Roscopf

My husband and I met Herman on the first day of my Chemo--We became instant friends. He was my inspiration. He told me everything to expect from our adventure together. We shared many dinners, and telephone calls and tried to have our appointments together--We shared our love for the mountains-What a great loss.. We miss him so much--But I know we will meet again in heaven.
