Herman W. Jacobson "Jake", age 74, of Lake Station, passed away Friday, May 16, 2014 at his residence. He was born May 30, 1939 in Harvey, Illinois to the late Carmie and Lorraine Jacobson. Jake retired in 1996 from Nipsco after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Lake Station Jaycees and Redeemer Lutheran Church where he volunteered his time as a Church Elder and Treasurer.

Jake is survived by his son, Erik Jacobson; daughters, Kayne (Christopher) Bolint, Caryn (Timothy) Anderson and Kathy Wyant; brother, Nels Jacobson; sister, Jean (Elmo) Eddy; grandchildren, Christopher Jr.and Jessica Bolint; Emma, Cora and Grace Anderson; Sadie, Benjamin and Samuel Wyant; and Samantha and Colin Jacobson; 2 great grandchildren.

Jake was preceded in death by his parents, Carmie and Lorraine Jacobson; his beloved wife, Barbara and one brother, Carmie Jacobson Jr. Memorial contributions in Jake's name may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church.

A Funeral Service for Jake will be held Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Avenue, Lake Station with Rev. Tom Engel officiating. Jake will be laid to rest at Blake Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, May 23, 2014 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. For more information please call 219-962-1606.
