Not sure what to say?

Sharon, Sorry for your loss.

Sending my love always to Sharon.

Herman was my first basketball coach when he spent a year or two in woodland. One of my best coaches. Learned how to be a team player, unfortunately he didn't stay long but he would visit woodland to see how some of his students were doing.

Sharon and familty- Back in the 80's I was a rookie substitute teacher and coach. Herm was such a great mentor to me. First, a great guy and second a great coach. It was an honor to be able to coach at Shumway under someone so nice, kind and patient. I learned so much from him about the x's and o's of coaching basketball but more importantly about creating relationships and getting to know your players and what was going on in their lives. Nothing but wonderful memories- both on and off the...

Oh Mr. Jones, thank you for being such a great roll model to us. You taught my mother, brother and myself at Shumway Junior High. After we grew up, it was always great running into you at various times, and you always remember my name and asked how our Mother was doing. You my friend will always have a special place in my heart.

Herm was my all-time favorite teacher. He was my PE teacher at Shumway and there was something about him that brought out my competitive spirit. I had to win every warm-up lap and beat all the boys in all the activities we did. He had the greatest smile and made every kid feel important. I regret not staying in touch over the last several years. Thinking and praying for his family

Mr. Jones was such a nice teacher. Hit in the face by many a dodge ball under his care, I am certain that my perseverance in life is partly due to his supportive encouragement. What a wonderful man who will never be forgotten.

In Memory of Coach Jones Coach Jones was more than a coach-he was a steady hand in the lives of many young people who needed it most. I was one of them. As a Jr. High basketball coach, he was always fair and never afraid to hold his players accountable. He didn´t shy away from the angry, frightened, quick-to-fight kid I was. I still remember the day he pulled me off a teammate on the bus after a tough loss and made the hard decision to remove me from the team. At the time, I didn´t...

My husband and I knew Mr. Jones from our Shumway years. He was so excited to recruit my husband when he was in 7th grade. He was already 6ft. Mr. Jones placed Brett on the Varsity team. Brett played one game and was out for the season with 2 badly sprained ankles.Mr. Jones was a bit disappointed to have drafted a Sam Bowie. Years later we ran into Mr. Jones at the gas station. He told Brett what a great gal he was marrying. He looked at Brett."Wait you were my big hope that played half a...
