Not sure what to say?

Words cannot express for what I think of Unka Nook. Growing up he was my personal hero. He taught me a lot (most of which I still remember, like the flowing fountain of champagne with 64 glasses!) I miss him daily, still. Dr. Jerry Schreiber, class of 58 Thomas Jefferson High, Elizabeth. Now Tinton Falls. Always a Jersey Guy and still am.

My sincere sympathy to Nookie's family. He was a kind, funny, generous man who was always there to lend and offer his support. I have fond memories him and he will be missed. To quote him, "Did you ever meet anyone who didn't like Nooky?" He was one in a million.

My UnkaNook was my hero as a child. He was and will always be that special person in my life. Together with his sister Marilyn they were the favorite aunt and uncle, and I had many many of them. He was my father's brother, but oh so much more than that. I will remember his 1949 yellow ford convertible with the zebra striped seat covers. I will remember all the times he took special care for my brother George and me. He gave me his old set of golf clubs in 1956 and I used them to try out for...

My sincere sympathies to all of Nook's extended family. The fond memories of this wonderful man will remain with all of us lucky enough to have known him.

My deepest sympathy to the Schreiber Family,
I was very sad to hear of Nookie's passing, as everyone attests he was a great man, always a smile and a story and the best St.Patricks Day gatherings. He will be sorely missed. God Bless.

Dear Lucille, Karen, Susan, Alan, Tim and Craig,
With fond memories of Nook you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Love,
The Ney Family

Growing up was I blessed to have 12 uncles but none were like Uncle Nookie ! He was sweet, kind, funny and always generous when it came to gift giving. He made up funny names for all of his nieces and nephews but always made you feel like you were the "special" one. He taught everyone how to "drink" alcohol properly. "Don't drink those silly mixed drinks- they will make you sick !" he told me - so I have acquired a taste for scotch on the rocks and think of him whenever i have a drink. You...

I knew Nook since August of 1954 when he had his store on 5th St and New Point Rd in Elizabeth. I knew him as a neighbor when his tavern was in the same chain of stores as my pharmacy on Westfield Ave in Elizabeth. I knew him as a fellow employee at Elizabeth's City Hall. Herman was a lot of good things to a lot of people and charities. God Grant Him Eternal Memory!

Nook Schreiber was a kind and generous man who only looked to help other people. He was dedicated to the people Elizabeth. Many people do not know that Nook Schreiber helped liberate Nazi concentration camps during WWII and he told me that this event changed his life forever.

To the entire Schreiber family and to his wife Lucille I want you to know that Nook will be missed by the hundreds of people who came to know him and love him.
