Herman L. Schultz, 81, of Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor in Brookville.
He was born Aug. 22, 1943, in Bethel Township, Armstrong County, a son of the late Helen (Crownover) and Clyde C. Schultz.
On Sept. 13, 1969, he married Carole R. (Longo) Schultz, who preceded him in death on Dec. 18, 2020. Herman loved and missed Carole deeply.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966.
Herman enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, fixing cars, being outdoors, his grandchildren and fishing in Pymatuning. He was a member of the NRA and the Pennsylvania Trappers Association.
He started his mining career in 1978 and worked in many different mines until his retirement in 1996. Herman also worked for Montgomery Ward as a mechanic.
Herman is survived by two children, son William J. Schultz and significant other Tracy Pruzinsky of Walston and daughter Denis DeLorenzo and husband Blaine of Punxsutawney; four grandchildren, Megan Winters along with partners Brett Stiffler and Sarah Rizzi, Brennan Winters and fiancé Audrey Mottin, William Schultz II, and Danielle DeLorenzo and fiancé Justin Kurtz; two great-grandchildren, Gage and Aria; a brother, Donald Schultz of Vandergrift; two sisters, Carol Beck of Kittanning and Lillian Hooks of Ford City; five nieces, Amy Schultz, Cindy Schultz, Nikki Given, Brenda Ward and Tracy Brenot; and three nephews, Chris Beck, Cory Beck and Joseph Longo III.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2025, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the funeral home with Monsignor Joseph Riccardo officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney.

I am so sorry for the passing of your father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and brother. Herman was a unique man, rough and tough on the outside and a squishy loving marshmallow on the inside. He will be missed.

Herman was my life-long neighbor and the best kind of neighbor anyone could every want. He was instrumental in forming the life i have today. I have fond memories of Herman pulling the go karts out of the garage so Bill and Dan and I could ride them in the back streets of the neighborhood when we were in grade school.
