My first year (1950) at Camp Idylwold
"I first met "Hermie" (as he was then known to campers at Camp Idylwold on Schroon Lake) when I was just a teenager. Spent four memorable summers at the camp where he and co-owner, Jay Chrust, got to know and nurture each individual camper. Hermie was indeed an adventurer in every way. He brought nothing but joy and laughter to the life of my family. My oldest daughter, Samantha, worshipped him as some kind of "timeless elf" and my younger daughter thought of him as "the coolest old man I know." He will be greatly missed.
