To the Smith Family, I am so sorry for your lost and my deepest condolences and sympathy go out to you. Deacon Smith was a bright light and beacon to all. I will always remember how he was there for my family when my father was ill and how his warmth and kindness was felt everytime that you were in his presence. I will truly miss him and my heartfelt prayer goes out to you and your family in this difficult time. May you find peace in knowing that he is in the loving presence of the Lord.

My name is James Wright I also was stationed with Herman Smith Jr. in Furth Germany 127th Ag Det Postal 1973. I would like to offer my condolences, toughts and prayers to Smitty and the Smith Family during this difficult time, just to let you know my brother I am in contact with Causey, Fred Wood, Frankie Norton, and Dennis Stanley the boys send much love and continue to think and pray for you and your family.

Miss Essie and family, thank you so much for sharing Mr. Smitty with the neighborhood. He was a wonderfully kind and gentle person who always had something pleasant to say. He will be missed but best of all, he is with the Father and we shall meet again.
