Manning-Heffern-O’Neill Funeral Home - Pawtucket Obituary

Hermenegildo Tek, 81, of Pawtucket, passed away February 1, 2021. He was the beloved husband of 46 years to Georgette (Dulieu) Tek and father to Matthew Tek, Jeremy Tek, and Angie Garcia in the U.S.; and Nora Trejo, Anna Erskine, and Hilda Cruz in Belize. He is predeceased by his son Andrew Joshua Tek. He was grandfather to Nathan Tek, Charlotte Tek, and Xavier Tek, all of the U.S., as well as many more grandchildren and great grandchildren in Belize.

Born in Orange Walk District, British Honduras, now Belize, he was the son of the late Basilio and Victoria (Tzul) Tek. In his home country, Hildo finished the 8th grade and went to work on his family’s multi-generational sugar cane farm as well as driving trucks for the government.

With only his strong Catholic faith, hope for a better future, and in sandals, he arrived in Boston, Massachusetts in the cold and snowy winter of 1973. He met and married his love, Georgette and they raised their family in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Hildo displayed his hard work ethic in the auto industry for over 40 years and became a proud U.S. citizen in the mid-1990’s. His inherited talent for and love of farming continued in the U.S. by tending to his tomatoes and cucumbers each summer. Those who had the opportunity to taste a Hildo tomato know there is no comparison.

Hildo was charismatic with a warm smile. A great dancer and cook, he was a friend to all who came to know him. His legacy will endure in the lives he has touched.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Teresa of the Child Jesus Church, Pawtucket.

Visiting hours are respectfully omited. The burial will be private.
